Tate v. Lynch (USA)

Ms Tay Tay

An Illinois inmate, Carl Tate, filed a lawsuit claiming that the Illinois Department of Corrections was deliberately indifferent to his gender identity disorder. The court thus far has allowed the lawsuit to proceed. Tate, who also goes by “Ms. Tay Tay” and is in prison for killing a rival crack dealer, argued that the prison effectively imposes inhumane conditions of confinement because he “must avoid showering, eating, and visiting the yard and gym to stay safe.” The court has denied, however, Tate’s request to be moved to a different prison, noting that he failed to demonstrate that any other prison would be “safer” for him.
