Darnell v. Oklahoma Department of Corrections (USA)

A federal district court dismissed Ronny Darnell’s lawsuit claiming that the Oklahoma prison system denied him treatment for gender identity disorder. Darnell, who is serving time for rape and forcible sodomy of a 13-year-old girl, claimed entitlement to (1) hormone treatment, (2) counseling, (3) “name change to fit my identity to Phoebe Halliwell,” (4) laser hair-removal treatment, and (5) an appointment with a transgender specialist. The court rejected his claims.
