Jane Doe is a transgender teenager held at a Connecticut prison for women. His attorney, Aaron J, Romano, recently claimed his client, who identifies as a girl, is deteriorating at the women’s prison. State Department of Children and Families officials say he has to be at York Correctional Institution in East Lyme because he physically attacked staffers and other residents at juvenile psychiatric treatment centers. A Connecticut state court affirmed the move to adult prison based on his behavior; you can read that opinion here.
In a recent letter Jane Doe wrote, which appeared in the Hartford Courant, he said: “I admit I have acted out and got into fights; many DCF kids fight with staff and other kids.”
